Canon Class Action Settlement
Canon Printer

Canon USA agreed to a $930,000 class action settlement that could mean $50 cash or a $75 voucher to purchasers of certain Canon inkjet printers, provided their claims are postmarked or filed online by December 7, 2015. The frustration of many owners is illustrated through the YouTube video and comments here:

The class action suit was brought in September 2014 by three owners of Canon inkjet printers, claiming that:
- the printer has a print head defect that causes an error message of “UO52 — Print Head Error” on the printer’s display panel;
- the error typically occurs after expiration of the 1 year warranty and Canon refuses to repair or replace the printer free of charge;
- repair costs most than the purchase price of a new printer; and
- if they had known about the defect, they would not have purchased the printer.

Without admitting fault or the legitimacy of plaintiffs’ claims, Canon USA agreed to settle and the settlement offer was approved on June 24, 2015.

The claim can be filed by mail or online here: https://canoninkjetprintersettlement.worldsecuresystems.com/file-a-claim-step-1
