A federal class action lawsuit, Dustin Rohrbough v. Pinnacle Foods Group, LLC, claims Hungry-Man frozen dinners and other products produced by Pinnacle Foods contain trans fatty acids, even though their labels state otherwise. It is seeking over $5 million in damages for consumers misled into purchasing the mislabeled products.
According to the Hungry-Man class action lawsuit, Pinnacle Foods Group failed to disclose the trans fat content within its food, which violates state and federal law.
Trans fat has been exclusively linked to the development of coronary heart disease and numerous studies have linked trans fat to an increased risk of obesity and diabetes, among other horrific health ailments.
Since January 1, 2006, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has required that conventional foods declare the trans fat content on a separate line within the “Nutrition Facts” label on their packaging.
