Franchise & Immigration Law
John N. Usher has 30 years’ experience in the franchise industry. The majority of that time was as a McDonald’s franchisee owning and operating 9 units. He has both the legal skills as a lawyer and the hands-on experience to assist you in all areas of franchising.
Usher Law Firm, P.A. is a family-run Franchise and Immigration law firm based in Central Florida. Attorney John N. Usher is committed to helping clients achieve their goals, whether that goal is to own and operate a successful franchise business or obtain an important immigration benefit such as an E2 investment visa or Green Card.
Attorney Usher’s interest in international franchising led him to expand his practice to include immigration law. While his initial focus was on investment visas, he was drawn to the more personal side of being an immigration lawyer by the needs of local families.
2 Rules When Buying A Franchise
- If you don’t ask, the Franchiser will not volunteer
- The only time you will have to negotiate is before you sign
Once you have identified the franchise terms which are of the most concern to you, a game plan should be formulated to seek modifications from the franchiser.
The game plan involves accurately assessing the franchiser’s strengths and weaknesses as well as your own strength and weaknesses. What are the bargaining power factors? Often franchise buyers underestimate what they have to offer the franchiser.
After determining bargaining leverage, an assessment needs to be done of the real-world likelihood of the franchiser making certain specific concessions. There are some terms which are almost certainly off the table, so no time needs to be wasted on those topics. An experienced franchise attorney will know which terms are most likely to be modified.
Usher Law Firm can help with franchise negotiations. Although not always possible, the goal is always for you to have (1) less exposure, and/or (2) more money in your hand.
For a landlord, evictions are an inevitable cost of doing business. Although problem tenants can be a financial drain and a source of much personal stress, an experienced Bronx eviction attorney understands there are ways to expedite the process but cautions that exact procedures must be followed.
